"Joop's big job."

Back from Stadskanaal a town in the north of Holland.
They got a great old railway station S.T.A.R. called, it's managed
by volunteers and it's a great painting spot!!

Joop one of the volunteers was cleaning up this old locomotive, and
together with the work light is gave a lovely site, somewhat X-mass feel
or at least Victorian one. Anyway, Joop thank you so much for your
model-standing!

"Joop's grote klus." Stadskanaal, Holland.
(Joop's big job.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

"Just after sunset." Lathum, Holland.

Thursday is usually Morris day, this means I restoring my old
car. A Morris Minor Van of 1968. But I always take my painting
gear with me, and very often I am able to push some paint after while.
Today i was just a little too late, I couldn't see the fine details that make
these kind of painting sparkle, ... but nevertheless here it is.

"Net na zonsondergang." Lathum, Holland.
(Just after sunset.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

When I put in the sheep I realized they where smack in the middle, ...

"Barracks Fencing Klarendaal." Arnhem, Holland.

A few weeks ago this fence caught my eye, and I
thought it would be a lovely sight during a bright
sunny day as today, a bit cold but still good painting weather
It does has the feel of the gate Richard Schmid painted, his
one is waaaay better but each time I see such a fence I
can't help to think of his painting.

"Kazernehek Klarendaal." Arnhem, Holland.
(Barracks fencing Klarendaal.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

It's so foggy overhere the whole day, that it's wasn't neseccery to
look far for a nice spot to paint, I love these days! steady light
lot's of the subject are simplified already and the mood is just
awesome, ... the only down part is the cold but as I said before
these kind of painting take that long so before you are getting really
cold your on a hot cup a chocolate.

"Zuidelijke parallelweg." Westervoort, Holland.
(Southerly parallel road.)  Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

"Cold start." Duiven, Holland.

A few weeks ago I saw > this < film on T.V.
and this morning I really had to think of it while seeing
these tall trees standing in the mist.

It was cold though, 'waterkoud' they say in Holland.
roughly translatted 'watercold' in a way it says that
everything is soo soaked with water it's sucks out every little
bit of heat that's there. Luckily these kind of painting don't take
that long, so after a few strokes and a few runs up and down the
field I was getting further to my Morris, because in the end it's
Thursday and therefore Morrisday!!

First Nocturnal

One thing what's nice about this season, it the amount of
dark skies, ...

"A12 bij nacht." Lathum, Holland.
(A12 at night.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

"Liemers avenue." Westervoort, Holland.

The Indian summer is gone, what's left is a grayish light and
cold temps. The good part is that the light is very constant, that
there is a little autumn colour left and that the haziness is starting
to re-appear, I love that last one it makes everything soo much easier
to paint!!

"Liemersallee." Westervoort, Holland.
(Liemers avenue.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

Saturday, November 05, 2011

"The corner." Lathum, Holland.

I noticed this scene last Thursday and with this Indian summer
I couldn't let it pass, ... it was beautiful as I painted it, but it
became spectacular when I finished, such a shame, although
sunset's are soo tricky, you almost have to do it in two steps
one for the block inn and a second setup for the final touches

"De bocht." Lathum, Holland.
(The corner.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

Friday, November 04, 2011

"Little Wales." Lathum, Holland.

Although some artists are already longing for snow,
I am still enjoying the autumn colours and lovely weather.

Just while uploading this painting I saw Rob IJbema's work
Painting Wales Diary and that made me realize there isn't
any comparison with Wales, ... especially now with these colours!

"Klein Wales." Lathum, Holland.
(Little Wales.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

Thursday, November 03, 2011

for that, it's gorgeous to spend time in the woods and enjoy the colours.

Been awhile since I posted, and it been some time
as well, .... anyway I think the erratic and hectic passed.

Meanwhile autumn is in full swing and it's lovely weather
as well so I couldn't resist to push some paint around my panels.

"One of Two." Noorderhaven, Groningen, Holland.

"One of Two" That's sounds a bit 'Star Trek' a like, (Seven of Nine)
But  I could title this painting just as well "The two brothers" cause
that's the name of this vessel. I'd reckon there must be an other vessel
like this somewhere around.

Anyhow a nice subject.
Been some hectic weeks last couple of weeks due to private circumstances
and my blog entrances are a bit erratic. I hope you bear with me on that,
because I think it will stay this way for a while.
But here the One of Two,

"Eén van twee." Noorderhaven. Groningen, Holland.
(One of Two.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

"Little white vessel." Doetinchem, Holland.

Busy preparing a new bunch of panels so another one from
last weekend, besides the weather is completely turn around,
bit depressing this way, gray as it should be I'll reckon. While
Richard Schmid explains very well that this is superb light,
I do miss the sparkle, ...
